Scoring Rubric
(This rubric is based on group rather than individual scoring, thereby inspiring all students in the group to work together.

Students were able to find materials using both print and nonprint resources. Students were unable to find information. Students were able to find all the traits of their weeds, but not the controls. Students were able to complete all sections of their handouts.

Each student worked well independently and with the group. One student did all the work. Several students in the group worked well together. Each student in the group stayed on task and collaborated when necessary.

Students were able to assimilate the contrast/compare method when exploring methods of weed eradication. The students' assessment of weed control was inconclusive. Students were able to find and report only on one method of weed control. Students reported the difference between methods of weed control outcomes.

Students had their minds opened to the need to further explore ways of controlling crop weeds. Students rejected the concept that weed control increased farm crop yields. Students found only the farming methods with which they were familiar as accepted weed control. Students were able to list and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of more than one method of weed control.
