Assessment

Much of the assessment for these activities will be done informally in the classroom. Students will be highly involved with self-assessment as they complete the first two activities. The questioning process that they engage in with their partner will provide them with information about the effectiveness of their communication.

The student museum catalogs will be assessed using the following rubric:

3 The writing responds to the assignment.
The writing describes the picture in adequate detail.

The vocabulary is clear and interesting.
2 The writing contains little elaboration to develop the descriptions.
Details are not very specific.
The vocabulary is adequate.
1 The writing responds minimally to the assignment.
The writing is unclear.
The vocabulary is limited.
0 The writing does not respond to the assignment.
