As of September 30, 2005, the North Central Regional Technology in Education Consortium is no longer in operation.
The following questions should be answered yes or no.
If you answer "no" to a question, you need to determine whether whole-class or individual remediation is needed.
Are students able to complete the What I Want to Learn section of the K-W-H-L?
Are students able to draw reasonable conclusions based on the pictorial data?
Are students able to work together cooperatively in their collaborative groups?
Are students able to sort data by predetermined criteria?
Learning Activity Two: Student survey:
Have students in their collaborative groups create a simple mobile using two-dimensional shapes.
Each member of the group must create one shape on the mobile. On each shape each student needs to list 2 sources for pictures or written materials they have found and 2 things they know now about contemporary Native Americans that they didn't know before researching. No information on the shapes can be identical. (Adjust this point if there are difficulties). Have students put the mobile together.
Learning Activity Three: Pictorial display rubric:
Create or find an example of an excellent pictorial display.
Have a total group discussion on what makes it an excellent example of a pictorial display.
Chart this information (list 1). Next, discuss with students what you would need on the display to get your point across to a viewer. Chart this information (list 2). From the information generated, you can create your pictorial display rubric.
Criterion on list 2 = 2 (acceptable)
Any work that does not meet the criterion on list 2 = 1 (work in progress) and must be completed.
