Prior Learning, Interests, Misconceptions, and Conceptual Difficulties
It is expected that students will have studied the culture of pre-European Native Americans before beginning this lesson. Students should have experiences in working in collaborative groups, using the concept of brainstorming and researching traditional and online resources. It would be helpful -- but not mandatory -- if students had experience using bookmarks on an Internet browser. Students will be asked to brainstorm what they know about present-day Native Americans. If they are unable to think of any responses to the question, have them study the pictures that will be used in the lesson to prompt responses.
