This activity could be enhanced by making students create various Geographic Information Systems. Possible areas of problem solving using GIS include -- but are not limited to - the following:

Geology
Hydrology
Land use planning
Local government
Mapping
Military
Risk management
Site planning
Transportation
Water/waste water
