Students must have been exposed to fractions.
Optional: It may be helpful if students could have some practice in detailed observation.
Conceptual Difficulties:
Students have a tough time conceptualizing fractions and understanding operational sense of fractions. For example, many students do not understand that dividing by 3 is the same as 1/3.
