Exercise Appropriate Habits of Mind. Students recognize that different attitudes and habits of mind
are appropriate for different learning issues and tasks; for example, students suspend some beliefs about what
is real when reading literature, assume a critical stance when examining scientific data, and seek multiple
points of view when discussing historical events.
