2. How do you assess learner progress with a project like this?

Part of the assessment of progress is related to students' thoughts about their progress and what they've learned through the group experience. Over time it becomes evident if the student was able to carry over their learning to other areas of their work. For example, we've done similar projects in the past using the computer. Each time we would use the computer for a new project, the group showed an ability not only to continue to master skills from the past but to continue to explore ways to improve the project and end product. This occurred in this project when the group wanted to have similar fonts and colors in the writing as well as similar borders. One group member made the addition of a back cover on his own, to make it more of a professional document. All these changes were seen over time.
