2. Do you devise these problem activities yourself, and how much time and effort does it take to get such a project set up?
It's a team effort. We have a very creative, talented staff of individuals, flexible thinkers, and they come up with ideas and we all throw in our two cents worth. Ultimately, I guess, it's the teacher's responsibility to put it all together in a package. I always work backwards with what I have in mind for them to learn in the first place, and then how I would get them there. That's where I draw upon my coworkers and other people in the community. Sometimes it's a student idea; sometimes it's something I've seen on TV; sometimes it's something that someone else has started but can't go anywhere with. Ideas are everywhere.
