3. Did learners have many fears initially?

Dave: Yes. A lot of them feared desperately the technology we were going to use because they hadn't really used any of it before. I think a lot of the time that we spent with them again on those community building things helped overcome that fear.

I think the fear of technology was overcome a great deal by the fact that when we first started using it we let them play a lot instead of having it [be] part of an assignment they were going to show everybody else. We just kind of set people down and said, "go," and they went.
