2. Were there any resistant students, and if so, how were they handled?

Dave: Yes, of course there were resistant students. We had one student who was there that didn't really buy in at the beginning, and certainly he did by the end of the course. The first several things that we did in the classroom were more concerned with community building within the classroom and getting everyone to see each other as support for classroom things and things in life in general that we could talk about. And I think that really helped him come out of the "I dare you to teach me something" mode and into [being] more accepting of what was going on in the class. And he was one of the strongest supporters of the class by the time we got done.
