4. What resources did you use to develop the vocabulary of selling yourself?
Crystal: This came from no resource. This just came from discussions that we've had and it sort of developed into a term as we were talking to the class. Every time you go out into the public you are being looked at and you are presenting yourself, you're presenting your package. How do you want that to be viewed?
How do you want people that are looking at you to see you? And then take that one step further: How can you sell yourself to a perspective employer? What do you have that can benefit this person? And it's all a marketing thing. If I have the same qualities, characteristics, and skills as the next person, but I can market myself better, then I'm probably going to get that job.
You're taking what you have as a person--your qualities, skills, characteristics--and you are putting those on the market. You are selling what you have to offer as far as being an employee. That just came from the work force, from life, from just general discussions on the topic. There was no resource used to form that term or vocabulary.
