4. Could you do this type of program with learners with lower literacy levels, and if so, what would you do differently?

Crystal: I think you could definitely do this with learners with lower literacy levels. For one thing you could slow down the pace of the whole curriculum. We had a three-week time span, but it could be extended to be however many weeks it needed to be. The pace could be slowed down. The number of participants could be limited so that they could get more individualized attention. Community volunteers could come in and work one-on-one. It could be done on a module-type system so that they had competencies or requirements that they had to complete to get through each phase. And they could work at their own pace. So there would be a variety of ways that lower level learners could be addressed in this program.
