3. Have you made any comparisons of learning outcomes using this model versus a more traditional or lecture model or what you used to do?

I always taught a unit on historical fiction in the past and when I was given the opportunity to use the Internet as a tool, I guess the differences I saw is—well, number one I taught it totally differently using technology because I moved away from being the lecturer to being the coach. Students were empowered instead of myself being empowered, which was much more motivating for my students, and I found that they went much further than they ever did because the interest was self-generated. Plus it was interactive; they were communicating with people. It was more globalized. Instead of the students walking away with facts about World War II, they walked away with an understanding of conflict and how conflict is resolved and how conflict sometimes isn't resolved. And what they learned was much higher level because they were involved in it [more] than the basic knowledge, lower-level learning, and I think that is the big comparison.
