2. Were students allowed to use regular text books, etc.,
when composing their historical fiction stories other than the three
chosen books?
As far as textbooks, there wasn't really a textbook; there was
the novels. There were several nonfiction books that had to do with
World War II that were in my classroom that I had purchased at old
bookstores, some from our local library. One of the major tools
my students used in the classroom was a thesaurus. We were working
a lot on descriptive and adding detail and visualization to their
stories, and so a thesaurus was a very important tool for my students.
So I guess that would be the closest thing to a textbook.
