7. How did you guide the students' research and project development activities?

Generally, if I have taught a mini lesson on a specific skill, then the students have the opportunity to go work on their projects. One example might be I might have had a few students working on computers or working on their projects in different areas and I may have to go up to one group and help them locate information—how to use the electronic card catalog. Another group it may involve being able to use the index and the contents to find specific information in a book. Another group I may walk up to and have to help with some decoding skills with the words that they're reading, so my guiding or the way I help them with their research is varied depending on the students' needs. You have some students that know how to locate their book, but once they sit down with a book have no idea how to record the information that is valuable, how to take notes for that group. So I guess it [my method of guiding] is more individualized and [also involves] coaching.
