4. How long did this unit take from the beginning (reading
the three books) through the student-created piece?
We spent about two months on the unit. And to put that in perspective,
we used several subject areas, and the students learned several
things in the communication skills area, like story structure, characterization,
all sorts of other things so there were several little ten-minute
lessons that fell in that two-month period. It just happened to
be that the theme we were using was World War II.
