7. Do you have any suggestions on how to get funding for such a lab?

Start looking for grants. They are out there. There are small organizations that will be happy to donate the computer that they just got rid of, and you can do a lot of things with that. All of the computers don't necessarily have to be the same. I think you have to go out and look for sources, but they do exist.
