3. Is there any proof that an activity like this will improve literacy skills more than a small group activity?

I hate to separate them out in that way because there's so much small-group activity involved with this final presentation product. Looking at this is more like looking at the tip of the iceberg. I think you need both kinds, particularly in a class like this where students are going to be going into other academic programs. They need to have good presentation skills. That's beginning to be more and more true in the workplace, as well, where there are quality teams developing and you have to be able to stand up and represent your team, or at least represent your own interest within a team.
