PROJECT MANAGEMENT

3. Did something get bumped from the curriculum to make time for this project?

I think whenever you do a project like that you feel like everything has gotten bumped, and I don't have time to do anything. The thing that you have to remember is that in the course of doing a project like this your students are learning. If they are learning how to put numbers in a spreadsheet, they are learning math. If they are learning how to write a descriptive paragraph, they are learning English. If they are doing map work, they are learning social studies. If they are practicing on presenting your travel poster, we have English and presentation skills. Working in small groups, cooperative learning, life skills. It always feels like something gets bumped from the curriculum. Maybe you don't feel like you are doing social studies, but you are. Maybe you don't feel like you are doing much, but you are. You have to know that as a teacher and realize that your students are progressing and qualify that to any people who come in and want to know, "What are you doing?"
