1. Can you give a unit overview?

Well, as I stated before the purpose of this unit was twofold. One was to engage our students in an authentic learning situation and also have them learn how to use technology as a tool in that real-life situation. So, we decided to incorporate some components from social studies, a little math, and, of course, a lot of English because they had to do a lot of writing. The purpose was to have our students travel from one coast of the United States to the other coast, stopping at places in between, looking at those cities as tourist areas, deciding on some resources there that they might want to use or visit, and then how to spend their money while they were there and manage their money, and then also cope with a few things that might happen to someone who really might be on a trip across the United States. That is basically what the project was designed to do.
