1. What is the level of technical expertise needed by a teacher to facilitate this activity?

A teacher can use an electronic field trip with a variety of levels of technical expertise. I am certainly not an expert in the nitty-gritty of technology. I am more a translator, I think, from one medium to another. If a teacher can read a lesson plan in print or on a screen, knows how to navigate around a Web site, really that's about all I think that would be required for a teacher to get started; and then learn as he or she goes along with the students in the program. The guides to a lot of educational projects that can be found on the Internet are in print version and are really helpful to those teachers who are just starting out in the technical world. The more comfortable print or hard copy version is one that then can bridge that gap or bridge that attempt to go on to using the technology. And I think the major thing for the instructor is to overcome a reluctance or a fear that we all have in trying something new.
