We had many educational goals in using the Live from Antarctica electronic field trip. It always goes back to using basic written and oral communication skills, mathematics skills, and learning some science at the same time. Those were probably the primary goals of this particular activity. As far as specific goals, learners were practicing their writing skills in sending messages via e-mail to a scientist in the field, reading those responses, and writing again.
