This site has wonderful pictures of some of Ancient Egypt's most well known locations such as Abu Simbel, Dendura, and Luxor. By clicking on the small pictures, a larger version will open. There is also a written history of each area. There is also a clickable map where each of these areas canal so be accessed, but it takes a long time to load. Both areas have strong points - the map shows the relationship of the cities

Letters from an Iowa Soldier in the Civil War

These letters are part of a collection written by an Iowa Infantrysoldier over a three year period ending in August, 1865. After reading these letters students can write their own from the point of view of any war. Students can also search the American Civil War Homepage for letters written by other soldiers, Confederate or Union, from another state. They can write an essay comparing the different experiences and explain how each perspective was similar or different.

In this section, many of the myths surrounding President Washington are answered. There is also a good lesson plan included, and excerpts from journal entries he wrote - one as he was leaving his home to become the President of the United States. Students will find his concerns for his own abilities make him seem more human.
