At the log-in screen, enter your first and last name, school, and a password of your own choice
in the boxes in the top half of the screen. Choose a password that you can remember. The pass-word
allows you to resume your rating at a later date. After completing those four entries, click
the "Begin New Rating" button. You will be prompted to create a file to store your rating.
When the rating file is created you will see the main rating screen.
The first category of indicators is "Vision." Under "Vision" there are four indicators. The first
indicator, "Responsibility," is highlighted to show that it is the indicator currently being rated.
Read the explanation of the indicator.
Below the explanation of the current indicator are three choices to rate your classroom or school.
Read the three choices and decide how much each choice applies to your situation.
Use the triangular up and down arrows (" A," "B," "C," and "D") to
assign a percentage to each of the three choices until you feel they accu-rately
represent your classroom or school. Use arrow "B" to decrease the
percentage assigned to the first choice and to increase the percentage
assigned to the third choice. Use arrow "C" to increase the percentage
assigned to choice two and to decrease the percentage assigned to choice
one. Each click of the arrows adjusts the percentage by five points. The total for all three choices
will always be 100%. Keep adjusting until the percentages assigned to each of the choices
reflects your current practice. To return to the default setting of 100% for the first choice, click
on the indicator's name in the categories of indicators box.
Once you have rated the first indicator, "Responsibility," click the "Next Item" button below the
rating scales. This will mark "Responsibility" as completed, record a score for that indicator, and
move you to the second indicator, "Strategic."
Follow the same procedures through all of the engaged learning indicators. After the engaged
learning indicators have been completed, the categories of indicators will change to the technol-ogy
indicators. You can change to technology indicators at any time by clicking the "Go Tech"
button at the bottom of the categories of indicators.
The technology indicators are very similar to the engaged learning indicators. One difference is
that the three choices are scored by clicking in the box that most closely describes your situation.
When you do this, an "X" will appear in that box to indicate it is your choice. If the indicator
does not apply to your situation because you do not have technology, leave the description blank
and click on the next item button. This will assign a rating of zero to this indicator.
